What do you compost?
We compost both dog and cat waste (as well as other waste from small pets such as rabbits, hamsters, and ferrets). We also accept compostable dog waste bags (view list of certified compostable brands here) as well as compostable cat litter (view list of popular compostable cat litters here). You may also throw in soiled paper towels and napkins that you may have used to pick up waste, but please avoid picking up sticks, rocks, or mulch. We do NOT compost food.
How do your services work?
For Yard Scooping, we come on a scheduled basis (every other week, once per week, or twice per week) and scoop your yard of all dog waste. We will also take any dog waste bags you have left out for a walk. While we’re there, we also spot deodorize areas of the yard that have built up any pet odors. All waste is bagged in compostable liners and taken with us to be composted!
For Bin Pickup, you are given a 4 gallon bin to fill with collected dog waste and soiled compostable cat litter, as well as compostable dog waste bags. On a scheduled basis (once per week, every other week, or every 4 weeks), we will come to swap out the compostable liner for a new one and rinse out your bin on site. Feel free to leave your bin outside wherever it is most convenient (front yard or backyard is fine). All waste collected is taken with us to be composted!
What do you do with all the fertilizer that you make from pet waste?
A couple of things actually. Our fertilizer, Critter Dirt, has been tested safe to use on both edible and non-edible plants. It is currently being sold online to the local community (with plans to expand to local nurseries and stores). We also have a free program for subscribed clients where a portion our finished fertilizer is delivered to their front door two times out of the year (additional orders of Critter Dirt is offered at half off).
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. In fact there are no set up fees either. For whichever schedule you sign up for (once a week, every other week, or once a month), you would pay in advance for 4 weeks. You are then billed every 4 weeks. You can cancel at any time and whatever dates are not serviced within the current billing period will be refunded. We also offer a one-time only service for those that just want a single scooping and not be on a schedule.
What is the cost for service?
All rates are listed on our service pages. Simply click choose between Yard Scooping or Bin Pickup service, answer the first question on the form and then all rates will be displayed. Rates for yard scooping is based on how many dogs you have and how often you would like your yard scooped. Bin pickups are based on how much waste you have and how often you would like pickup.
How do I pay?
For your convenience, we offer online payment forms that accept credit and debit cards displaying the Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express logos. Your card will then be charged on a monthly (4-week) basis for the rate at which you choose.

What if I have a small yard?
Discounts are available for those with small yards typically ranging from 10% – 20% off depending on size. The discount cannot be determined and applied until after our first visit. This discount may not be available to those that have redeemed other promotions to reduce their monthly rate.
Is there an extra charge if I have a large yard?
We try to avoid increasing the rate, but in rare cases we may discuss with you an increase in rate or only scooping sections of the yard each time we are there.
Is there an extra charge if I have large dogs?
No. No matter what size your dog, we see it as being equally challenging. While larger dogs produce larger amounts of waste, it is harder to spot the ones the little guys put out.
What is in your deodorizer?
The deodorizer we use in yards is called “Odormute”, a non-toxic, pet-safe enzymatic cleaner that will eat away at dead organic material, such as doggie poo residue that may be embedded in your grass for over a 2-3 day period to mitigate the smells. Absolutely safe on and around humans, pets and plants.
Do you allow dogs in the yard while you’re there?
Yes, as long as the dogs play nice. We’re fine with barking and jumping, just as long as there’s no bite risk. Our staff is very careful to keep all gates after entering and exiting the yard. We can text you when we’re on the way so you can bring your dogs in if needed (option available when signing up for service).
What if I don’t need my yard scooped on a certain week?
Are you taking your dog on vacation or boarding him for some time? No problem! Just notify us beforehand and we’ll credit your account for the skipped days.
Are you insured?
Yes we carry workers compensation and liability insurance.
Do you work on Holidays?
We try to work on or close to Holidays to help keep a clean yard for those hosting a party or having family visit. We will work Christmas Eve as long as there are enough scoopers available. Thanksgiving and Christmas Day we are closed.
Do I have to be home while you work?
No. Please let us know of anything that could possibly hinder us from getting to your yard such as a locked gate or steep driveway so that we can discuss the best solution.
What happens if it snows or rains?
We will still come to scoop your yard rain or shine. If it is heavy rain or thunderstorm, we can simply wait until it has passed. If heavy snowfall occurs or any other weather condition that prevents us from scooping that day, we will attempt to service the next day. If we decide to delay your service for the following week, we will credit your account half of that day’s service rate.
Note that we may pause deodorizing service during the winter months to prevent the liquid spray from freezing on the surface.
How do I cancel my service?
We’ll be sorry to see you go! If you need to cancel, simply call (828.668.2055) or email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) at least 48 hours in advance before your next payment is scheduled.
