How to use our Random Unit Generator
Rather than treating your pet waste issue with negativity and seeking to fine those who don't pick up after their dog, you can take a more positive approach and announce a drawing that will encourage your tenants to be responsible dog owners and reward a winner(s) when the grounds of your complex is kept clean.

By using our Random Unit Generator, you are essentially drawing winning units out of a virtual hat. You can reward these chosen units with a discount on rent or a gift card as a way to say "Thanks".

  1. Select between one and five winners.
  2. Enter the range of units you would like to pick from.
  3. Exclude any units you do not want included (perhaps one that is vacant or does not house a dog. Check A,B,C, or D if your units have letters included in their assigned number.
  4. That's it! Draw the winning units.
The remainder of the form is optional and will help you create a congratulatory message to your winner(s).

Shouldn't I just set the maximum allowance of dog waste to 0 lbs?
You do not want to challenge your tenants with an impossible task. If they feel there is little to no chance of meeting that allowance, their motivation goes out the window. The truth is that there is probably always going to be some doggie doo on the ground, even with your tenants’ best intentions. Accidents happen – whether someone forgot to bring a bag, they didn’t see their dog go while in the dog park, or they couldn’t see where to pick up late at night. The point is to make your complex consistently clean enough so that your tenants are happy and can enjoy the shared space.

Does the reward always have to be a monetary amount?
Not at all, you can use the reward program’s structure to offer your tenants whatever type of compensation you prefer. Keep in mind that a financial gain is a guaranteed universal motivator that all of your tenants can agree on.

What if one of the units that win don't own a dog?
We recommend that the winning unit(s) should have a dog residing there as those are the tenants that deserve a thank you for picking up. You can click "redraw" next to a unit that was drawn but does not own a dog. Make sure that it is clear to your tenants that only a dog-owning unit can win.

How are the units chosen?
Our unit generator uses a pseudo-random method meaning that although it uses a computational process to produce a series of values, it is so wildly unpredictable that it is able to satisfy a multitude of statistical tests. It will only see your units as a numeric calculation and takes in no other user input and absolutely no information about your tenants.
